Demonstration @ CES 2018

Our personal sound zone (PSZ) technologies, developed in collaboration with Hyundai Motor Company, were demonstrated at CES 2018.

Two sound field control systems for automotive vehicles - Separated Sound Zone & Pedestrian Attention Warning systems - were demonstrated in the KIA exhibition booth.

[Details]

The Separated Sound Zone (SSZ) system simultaneously forms independent sound zones at individual seat positions, allowing passengers at different seats to enjoy different audio programs.

The Pedestrian Attention Warning (PAW) system increases the safety of EV & self-driving cars by recognizing the direction of pedestrians and selectively emitting focused sound beams to the identified directions.

1. Separated Sound Zone (SSZ)

The SSZ technology can focus sound energy to a designated position in a car cabin, through the state-of-the-art signal processing technology controlling multiple loudspeakers at the same time. By focusing sound on multiple seat positions, passengers in different seats can enjoy their own audio contents without being disturbed by the sound of others.

2. Pedestrian Attention Warning (PAW)

EV & self-driving cars emit a warning sound to prevent pedestrian collisions. Since the warning sound can increase the environmental noise, our PAW system intelligently detects pedestrians and generates sound beams only to the directions of pedestrians. In this way, the PAW technology can improve the public safety without increasing the noise pollution.
